Why Use a UK-Based Chinese Translator?
Chinese-English certification built for UKVI, the Home Office, UK courts and Russell Group universities.
Native Chinese, UK-Based
Native Mandarin and Cantonese translators working in the UK. Familiar with PRC (Simplified), Hong Kong and Macau (Traditional + Cantonese script), Taiwan (Traditional), Singapore (Simplified), Malaysia (Simplified), and overseas Chinese community documents. Both writing systems handled routinely.
Chinese Legal & Civil Systems
Hukou (户口) household registration, gongzheng chu (公证处) notary attestations, renmin fayuan (人民法院) court judgments and jinshi jufen (民事诉讼) civil-procedure documents. Chinese legal and administrative terminology rendered with a plain-English equivalent Home Office and UK court staff will recognise.
UKVI Immigration Expertise
Chinese civil-status documents for Spouse (Appendix FM), Skilled Worker, Innovator Founder, Global Talent, ILR, British Citizenship (Naturalisation) and the British National (Overseas) BN(O) visa route for Hong Kong applicants.
Business & Regulatory Chinese
SAIC (State Administration for Industry and Commerce) business licences, board resolutions, joint venture contracts, PRC bank statements and PRC audited financial statements for Companies House filings, HMRC evidence bundles, AML source-of-funds checks and UK contract enforcement.

Spouse Visa (Appendix FM)
Chinese jiehun zheng (marriage certificate), chusheng zhengming (birth certificate), lihun zheng (divorce certificate), wufanzui jilu (non-conviction) and Appendix FM financial evidence for Spouse and Unmarried Partner routes.
Skilled Worker / Global Talent
Chinese xueweizheng (degree), biyezheng (graduation certificate), chengjidan (transcript), employer references, Certificate of Sponsorship supporting documents and Global Talent Home Office endorsement evidence bundles.
British Citizenship (Naturalisation)
Chinese birth and marriage certificates, non-conviction certificates and referee ID documents for Form AN naturalisation applications. Life in the UK and English language proofs cross-referenced with translated Chinese civil documents.
UKVI Requirements for Chinese Documents
Certified English Translation
Every Chinese document must be accompanied by a certified English translation for UKVI, HM Passport Office and UK court submission (UKVI Para 39B).
Signed Statement of Truth
Translator provides a signed Statement of Truth confirming the translation is a true and accurate rendering of the Chinese source document.
Translator Credentials Included
Translator's full name, UK address, telephone and signature must appear on the translation, together with the date of translation.
Source-Formatting Mirrored
Pagination, stamps, seals and gongzheng chu (notary) attestations on the Chinese source are preserved and clearly noted, so the caseworker can cross-check against the original.
Why Chinese→English Certified Translation Is Not Trivial
What separates a UK Home Office / court-ready translation from a machine-translated draft.
Simplified vs Traditional Characters
Simplified Chinese is used in PRC (mainland), Singapore and Malaysia. Traditional Chinese is used in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Same word, different characters (国 vs 國, 学 vs 學, 语 vs 語). Native speakers of the specific variant handle the source; character equivalence is not always one-to-one.
Legal & Civil Terminology
Hukou (户口), gongzheng chu (公证处 notary public office), renmin fayuan (人民法院 people's court), SAIC (工商局 industry and commerce), MoFA (外交部), Hong Kong Registrar of Marriages, Taiwan Household Registration Office (户政事务所). These institutions have no exact UK equivalent, and rendering them with a Home Office-recognisable gloss avoids caseworker follow-up.
PRC Calendar and Address Formats
PRC dates are written YYYY年MM月DD日, addresses run province -> city -> district -> street -> building. Hong Kong and Taiwan use the same date format but different administrative-division names. Both are normalised for UKVI evidence bundles without losing the source information.
Pinyin, Jyutping and ICAO 9303
Chinese names transliterate to Latin script via Hanyu Pinyin (PRC/Taiwan standard) and Jyutping or Cantonese Romanisation (Hong Kong). We match the exact spelling that appears on the client's UK Home Office record so name-matching does not fail across evidence bundles.
Education (UK ENIC)
Chinese xueshi (bachelor), shuoshi (master), boshi (doctorate); Hong Kong HKDSE and Bologna-aligned degrees; Taiwan xueshi and shuoshi. Each maps slightly differently to the UK ENIC (formerly NARIC) framework, and we annotate the equivalent so UK universities and Home Office Skilled Worker teams can score them correctly.
Professional Qualifications
Chinese professional titles (yisheng doctor, lushi lawyer, gongchengshi engineer, huiji shi accountant) are rendered with the closest UK title plus the Chinese source, supporting GMC / NMC / GTC / SRA / ACCA recognition applications.

Certified translation runs both ways from this page. Chinese civil-status documents (chusheng zhengming, jiehun zheng, lihun zheng, siwang zhengming) render into English for UKVI, the Home Office, HM Passport Office, UK courts, UK ENIC (formerly NARIC) and Russell Group admissions. UK-issued documents render into Chinese for PRC MoFA authentication chains, Hong Kong Immigration Department filings, Taiwan Household Registration Office notification, and Chinese consular use for dual-citizenship or overseas Chinese national records. The Statement of Truth is issued in Chinese when the receiving authority requires it, and in English by default.
PRC, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia
Chinese-language documents reach us from six major legal systems with distinct civil-registry conventions. Mainland China (PRC) uses Simplified characters and its Notary Public Office (公证处) attestation system. Hong Kong operates in English and Traditional Chinese, with its own Immigration Department and Registrar of Marriages. Macau operates in Traditional Chinese and Portuguese with cross-recognition for pre-1999 documents. Taiwan uses Traditional characters and the Household Registration Office (户政事务所) system. Singapore uses Simplified and English with the Singapore Notary Public system. Malaysia's Chinese community documents run through the National Registration Department in Malay and English. Every source is annotated with the issuing authority, the country of issue and the script used, so a UK caseworker or admissions team can validate it cleanly.
BN(O) Visa Route: Hong Kong Documents
British National (Overseas) visa applications require certified English translations of every non-English document. We handle the standard evidence bundle: Hong Kong birth certificates from the Registrar of Births and Deaths, marriage records from the Marriage Registry, HKID card copies, non-conviction certificates from the Hong Kong Police Force, dependent-relative supporting documents (spouse birth certificates, child birth certificates showing HK-resident parent), and Hong Kong Immigration Department documents for track record. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region seal is preserved and the source dates are shown alongside the Gregorian equivalent. Turnaround for a standard BN(O) bundle of six to twelve documents is 48 to 72 working hours.
Turnaround by Document Length
Standard delivery covers documents of one to three pages within 24 working hours. Longer bundles run to 36 hours for four to six pages, 48 hours for seven to ten pages, and are confirmed individually beyond eleven pages so we can match the right translator pair to the volume without compromising the two-step review. All delivery windows are working windows, calculated from the moment a clean, legible scan is received.
